How many probes per assimilator

If even one Probe gets away, the Protoss player's war machine can be rolling again in very little time. Build then mine There is a trick to allow your Probe to mine resources after warping in a building to prevent it from sitting idle until you give it further commands a good idea in a real-time game.

Select the Probe, then hold down shift and while holding shift, select the building you want your Probe to warp in. Once you have done that, and while still holding shift, right-click on Minerals or Gas and let go of the shift button.

Note: you must give the shift-clicked Command before the Probe starts warping the building in or you can't give any other commands. When your Probe is done constructing the building, it will start mining the resource on its own. Another way to do the same thing is tell a Probe to warp in a building, then quickly, before the Probe starts constructing the building, hold down Shift , right-click on Minerals or a Gas mine, then let go of the Shift button.

The difference between this and the above method is you are pressing Shift after instructing the Probe to warp in the building, rather before. Both methods will work but you may find one easier than the other.

The Probe is capable of mining both Minerals and Vespene Gas. To mine Minerals simply right click on a Mineral cluster with the Probe. Each Mineral spot can only be mined by one Probe at a time.

The Probe looks for what it thinks is the first and closest available mineral patch to mine. Site Map. All games, one app:. Stay Connected:. All trademarks referenced herein are the properties of their respective owners.

In most cases, you can only pull this off once, ending up completing it. I thought Protoss assimilator having more HP some how makes up for the racial disadvantage. Maybe it's the solution to the : double gas steal :o. Maybe it's because Blizzard wants the gas steal to be more viable for Protoss? I don't know. Gas is very important for Protoss since the units are so expensive.

Let Protoss have the best gas stealing abilities. It's fine. Of all the balance issues someone could bring up. This actually made me chuckle.

Thanks, OP! Lock this thread mod. This is quite an interesting oddity People saying this is not an issue is extremely ignorant. Gas-steal can lock down lots strategies for both terran well, yeah like they dont need it and zerg. The extra hp because being an assimilator can change the outcome greatly, the so don't say stupid things like "who cares"..

I don't see how that belongs to teamliquids forum. On September 14 Roxy wrote: You have got to be kidding me Do we really want to go into discrepancies between basic buildings?

Zerg farms can fly The whole point is that the races are very different, and yet the game overall is balanced. The only reason having that the HP on any races gas building is if they gas steal..

To be honest, this shouldn't even really matter or effect your gameplay that drastically. The extra hp it has is only a matter of like 30 in game seconds, which early game is a big deal, but gas steals happen so often that you shouldn't be getting frazzled because of it.

I don't care one bit for it. I have YET to have any games of mine decided because of the extra hitpoints an assimilator has. However, is it kind of stupid that it has that much more life? The Protoss player rarely uses an offensive Gas Steal strategy with the Zerg because Vespene Gas is not as vital to early Zerg production.

Further, the early presence of Zerglings can usually fend off an Assimilator easily. The Protoss player will usually warp in the Assimilator later than in the PvT match-up as the Protoss does not need Vespene Gas early on as it seals off the natural in the common Fast Expand build order.
